Arizona Workers’ Compensation System Overview for Healthcare Providers

Even healthcare providers with experience treating injured workers will improve their knowledge about the system from this training.

Preauthorization and Peer Review Training for Healthcare Providers

Most patients respond favorably to evidence-based medicine treatments. What should you do when faced with a patient who is not responding as expected? Attend this webinar and learn about the preauthorization process and how healthcare providers can effectively and formally preauthorize treatment that deviates from guidelines. Improve your knowledge about utilizing peer reviews to justify deviations from treatment guidelines. Most importantly, healthcare providers who attend this webinar will gain confidence in the treatment provided to injured workers and their ability to receive appropriate reimbursement from payers in Arizona’s workers’ compensation system.

Billing, Appeals, and Disputes for Healthcare Providers

Improve billing and collection practices with your workers’ compensation patients. The Medical Resource Office will thoroughly cover everything healthcare providers need to know to document and bill payers for services rendered to injured workers. The office reviews how to appeal payments from carriers that may not have been reimbursed appropriately. The training also discusses the informal payment dispute resolution program offered by the office to assist providers who have appealed to payers with unsuccessful results.

Arizona Workers’ Compensation Requirements for Healthcare Providers

Are you familiar with all the forms, documents, and additional requirements for healthcare providers who treat injured workers in Arizona? The Medical Resource Office will review the Arizona statutes and rules that govern the treatment of injured workers. Participants will improve their understanding of the expectations for healthcare providers who treat injured workers. Please note that no one in the Medical Resource Office is an attorney, the training will cover the statutes and rules, yet no legal advice will be given.

The training track for payers, adjusters, and third-party administrators includes the following one-hour webinars:

Treatment Guidelines, Preauthorization, and Peer Review for Adjusters

This training is designed to inform payers about their responsibilities regarding the Treatment Guidelines and the preauthorization process. The training reviews the Treatment Guidelines and how they apply to injured workers. Participants will be informed of expectations when healthcare providers submit preauthorization requests including crucial timelines and guidelines on responses. Every adjuster who manages Arizona claims should attend this training and be informed on important timelines pertaining to the preauthorization process.

Managing Medical Benefits

This training focuses on resources payers may use to appropriately and efficiently manage medical benefits. Vital portions of the fee schedule guidelines will be reviewed with the intent to improve the understanding and application of these elements.
